Why Baby Routines?
I believe my baby routines are very important in helping parents to interpret their baby's cries. They teach parents to understand the difference between their baby's various cries. When following a baby routine, you will start to recognise your baby's hungry, tired or bored cries. When your baby starts to cry, you will be able to look at the baby routine and see what is due next. If your baby is due a feed, you will start to recognise that cry as a hungry cry. If your baby is due to have a sleep, you will learn that cry as a tired cry.

We also took loans from family members and fortunately for us, the adoptive agency which we enlisted caters for installment payments for the adoption fees. Meanwhile, we also carried out some fundraising activities to add on to our adoption budget.

Importance of Babies' First Year Feeding Process
This subject has been on mind for a long time and I feel compelled to write about it. I have observed when some mothers feed their small babies they either hold the baby in front of the them on their knees and away from their chest, they do support the head with their hand; or they feed the baby lying in a crib or in a pram or on the floor. I observed this feeding process much too often in the past, I have even seen it in some movies, which keeps me always wondering why some mothers feed their babies in this fashion and where did they acquired this method?

Stairway Safety For Young Children - It's Up to You
The Risk of a child dying from a stairway fall is less than 1 in 2 million (as per a June 2008 article published in the Official Journal of American Academy of Pediatrics - The Annual Risk of Death Resulting From Short Falls Among Young Children.) However, when it comes to children be treated in hospital emergency wards, one of the leading causes of injuries is from stairway falls. Although the death rate is low, the injury rate is quite high. One would think that if this is one of the most common causes of injuries, that parents and guardians would take more precautions to ensure that their precious little ones are safe from these types of injuries.

Baby Shower Invitation - Wording Tips
The wording for a baby shower invitation is similar to that of most invitations, in that it addresses the who, what, when, and where. You'll want to let your invitees know the name of the expectant mother, the date and time of the baby shower, directions or the address of the shower, the contact info for whom guests should R.S.V.P., and if applicable, any baby registry the mother may have and any instructions for gifts or activities. You may also want to include the name of the baby and its gender, if you know what it is and would like to share.

Potty Training 101
The thought of no more diapers is enough to elate most parents. Envisioning the end of the cost and inconvenience (and don't forget the smell) gives them such a thrill! Children learn certain skills called developmental milestones in predictable time tables. These milestones develop in a sequential manner. For example, a child will usually crawl before he walks. Readiness for potty training is a developmental milestone. Every child is different, reaching these milestones in their own time, and the age range for potty training readiness is actually fairly large. The American Academy of Pediatrics says that potty training readiness occurs generally between 18 and 30 months of age.

Baby Sleep - How to Deal With Fussy Eaters
Toddlers are as varied as adults, some are fat, some are thin, some are fussy and some mimic a garbage disposal unit, where everything edible and occasionally inedible goes in the mouth. It is very very rare for a toddler to starve themselves to illness. The survival instinct will mostly overpower fussiness. However if you have a toddler who is underweight or malnourished and very fussy it would be prudent to get medical advice to ensure there are no underlying medical problems. If however your toddler is in a normal weight range, then there is nothing to gain by making every meal time a battlefield of opposing wills.

Moving Day - Picking Out Kids Bedding is Fun
This article is an attempt to help parents get a plan on how to help their children on moving day. As parents we are aware of all the emotions our children exhibit when they are told that we are moving. Letting them have some say about their new room is a great help. It gives the child a sense of belonging, and that they are important to the family. Moving can be fun if you can get your kids to help, by that I mean get involved in picking out things for their own rooms. Choosing their own bedding, waiting for it to arrive, and then placing it in the room is just what the child needs to gain confidence and make the transition to their new home.

Toddler Sleep - How to Get Your Toddler to Happily Go to Bed and Fall Asleep Fast
As you know, it is not always easy getting your toddler to go to bed, let alone staying there and then falling asleep. Your toddler may be the "stay-up late, no matter what" type. You know, its ten o'clock and you're bleary eyed but he is wide awake and bushy tailed. Or its 3 a.m. and it's the fifth time your angel has woken up and called for you from her bed. Perhaps it seven-thirty, bedtime and your "adored one" won't budge from the television set and lounge room. Or, all of these scenarios apply to your household or its something else and you too are drop dead tired. Sound familiar?

Baby Bags - What to Pack When You Travel
Packing for baby when you are going on a day or maybe a weekend journey is packing for the convenience of you as much as the comfort of baby. Sometimes, without the one, you definitely don't have the other. Heaven forbid you are strolling hand in hand down the boardwalk, miles away from every convenience known to man and you realize, as baby so abruptly and vociferously reminds you, that you forgot the teether, the gum soothing ointment, the.... all because you were trying to conserve on packing the baby diaper bags to accommodate the airplane luggage restrictions or take the little hybrid instead of the SUV.

Diaper Bags - The Parent's Best Friend
Whoever came up with the idea for the diaper bag was a genius. After all, how else will the parent be able to carry all of the necessities for taking care of a little one? If a parent is going to go out for a while, it is not possible to put all of the clothes on an infant he will have to wear before the trip is over. A diaper bag has to be packed with bibs, not only for any feeding that will take place, but also for the constant slobber and drooling a baby does. If bibs are not used, the outfit placed on the child will have to be changed.

Caring For Newborn Babies - Breastfeeding
Contrary to popular belief, it is a myth that bottle-formula and breast feeding are equally good. Mother's milk is superior to any other milk as it has been refined by nature over millions of years to provide everything your baby needs. There are certain components in mother's milk that help the baby fight illnesses while also promoting growth and development that simply cannot be replicated. Breast fed babies are less prone to illnesses and childhood diseases and frequently show faster growth and better brain development than those fed on store bought formula.

Toddler Tantrums Terminated
All children go through toddler tantrums at one time or another; they fall to the floor while kicking and screaming because they're frustrated or can't have something their way! You may notice some toddlers experience these episodes more than others, and they usually grow out of them by the time they turn 3-4 years old. To be able to curtail a toddler tantrum you must first have an idea about what causes it. Toddlers are just learning about their existence and everything around them, and they're also learning to communicate during their 2nd year. The most common reasons they occur are because they're hungry or tired, when they can't get what they want due to a parent's wishes, and when they can't communicate their needs verbally or otherwise.

Shaken Baby Syndrome Risk Profiles
The four main adult risk categories that contribute to affecting whether a baby is at a greater or lesser degree of risk from being subjected to Shaken Baby Syndrome are: Mental Predisposition - Most incidences of Shaken Baby Syndrome take place during an unintentional fit of rage, where an arbitrary event causes the adult to simply 'snap' and forcefully release their frustration, for a matter of seconds usually, on the baby in their care. It is understandable, therefore, that those individuals that are already experiencing high levels of anxiety and stress are likely to ...

Overfeeding Babies - The Most Common Problem in the Early Days With Formula-fed Babies
Unlike the breast-fed baby the most common problem in the early days with formula-fed babies is overfeeding. The reason I believe this can happen with some babies is that they take the bottle of formula so quickly that their natural sucking instincts are not satÂisfied and they end up screaming when the bottle is removed from their mouth. Many mothers interpret this cry as one of hunger and end up giving them another bottle of formula. A pattern of overfeeding can quickly emerge, resulting in the baby gaining huge amounts of weight each week. If this problem is allowed to continue the baby quickly reaches a stage where milk alone will not satisfy his appetite, yet he is too young to be given solids.
